News : Around 70 Jobs to be Announced at Avaya
Nov 7, 2014 -- There is more good news on the way for Galway City next week, with the announcement of around 70 new jobs at communications provider Avaya.
It comes as Perseus Telecom – which provides high-speed global connectivity for financial, gaming and multimedia sectors – announced 25 jobs at a new operations centre here.
It’s understood that around 70 new jobs are to be announced.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Perseus announced that it is to set up a new Network Operations Centre in Parkmore West, with 25 new positions.
The company is already recruiting for a variety of roles, including Level 1, 2 and 3 network engineers, software developers and project managers.
According to CEO Dr Jock Percy, the company selected Galway "because of the central role it is playing in Ireland’s burgeoning technology industry".
The operations centre will support customers including banks and exchanges, as well as e-commerce, telecoms, multimedia and technology firms.
"We are extremely thankful to the Irish government for its support in this initiative, and the role that IDA Ireland has played in making this a trouble-free experience.
"We hope that this venture will encourage other businesses to take advantage of the pro-business culture in Ireland and also provide welcome employment to the local economy," said Dr Percy.
