News : Asurion Will Lay Off 98 at its Kansas City Call Center
June 13, 2014 -- Asurion LLC will cut its Kansas City staff in half this summer.
Bettie Colombo, a spokeswoman for Asurion, said Friday that the 98 layoffs were in the company’s call center and resulted from operations becoming more efficient.
The layoffs will take effect Aug. 8. Asurion filed a notice June 6 under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
After the layoffs, the Kansas City office at 8880 Ward Parkway will have a staff of about 100.
Laid-off employees can transfer to customer care work-at-home positions if they are eligible, seek other positions with Asurion or accept a severage package, Colombo said.
