News : AT&T Unveils New Call Center in Alief

Alief, TX, USA, Aug 28, 2019 -- AT&T on Wednesday unveiled its new call center in Alief.

The 69,000-square-foot call center is expected to handle 1.3 million calls a year, and its employees will be equipped to answer questions on all of AT&T's core products, which include TV, internet, wireless and home phone services. They will also work to retain customers.

The facility will have more than 500 employees, the majority being new hires.

"We wanted to invest in a call center of the future," an AT&T spokesman said in an email. "AT&T has a long history working with the city of Houston and we're committed to helping the city provide opportunities and resources to citizens no matter where they live. We want to continue to support and provide resources that benefit the people and economy of Houston."

The facility has Houston-inspired murals, including the city skyline and a space shuttle prepared for launch. It also has a wellness area, video games and game tables, and rooms with TVs to experience AT&T's products and services.

The center will support AT&T's Believe Houston efforts. This initiative seeks to create opportunities for youth in underserved neighborhoods identified by Mayor Sylvester Turner's Complete Communities initiative. Alief is one of those communities, and Believe Houston is working to expand young people's vision for their futures.
