News : Avaya Networking and Communications to Connect State of Virginia's Smart City
Santa Clara, CA, USA, September, 2016 -- The state of Virginia's Smart City is poised to set the standard for cities of the future, thanks to a new initiative driven by 22 Capital Partners in partnership with Avaya. 22 Capital Partners selected Avaya as a foundation technology partner to provide the framework for the "Smart City In-a-Box" platform, which will first be rolled out in the Gramercy District in Ashburn, Va. By integrating Avaya's Software-Defined Network (SDN-Fx) with 22 Capital Partners' Smart City Platform -- known as 22CityLink -- Avaya enables the delivery of a single, simplified and secured communication fabric to keep pace with the ever-increasing demand for mobile, social and cloud-based communications applications.
22 CityLink is a mixed-use development that will showcase technologies and companies from around the world. The development will serve as a "living laboratory," which will house 22 CityLink's technology and solution partners. Within the Gramercy District, Avaya and 22 Capital Partners will design an Innovation Center to showcase solutions in smart workplace, smart healthcare, smart network operations, smart retail, cognitive computing, big data analytics with next generation automation capabilities and more. The intent of this "live-sandbox" environment is to take an integrated and realistic approach to develop an urban area that creates sustainable economic development while delivering differentiated experiences and a high quality of life.
The goal of the 22 CityLink initiative is to provide the best personalized digital experience possible for every individual within the smart city by focusing on a holistic approach using turnkey virtual networks and applications offering lower cost solutions previously unavailable. A universal platform supporting access to any device and data in a secure environment is the key to the smart city of the future.
