News : Bank of Queensland Opened a New Gold Coast Customer Service Centre
Bank of Queensland opened a new Gold Coast customer service centre yesterday at Varsity Lakes, with the capacity to support 100 staff.
A section of BOQ’s new expansion will provide dedicated support to the bank’s mortgage broker unit as it expands into the Queensland market.
BOQ Chief Executive Officer Jon Sutton said the Bank was expanding its customer service channels and it made sense to base the new customer service centre on the Gold Coast.
"The Gold Coast’s popularity as a tourist destination has helped it develop a mature service industry and it’s also BOQ heartland where we already have significant investment and a high concentration of branches, so it was an appealing choice for us," he said.

Sutton said their Perth customer service centre was operating at capacity and the bank was keen to extend their service reach with a second centre on the east coast, alongside its 18 branches in the 50km between Upper Coomera and Tweed Heads South.
The positives go beyond business for the bank with Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate commenting the new centre is a resounding vote of confidence in the direction of the city.
"I absolutely applaud this announcement which will mean more local jobs and a welcome boost to the Varsity Lakes precinct," Tate said.
