News : BBMP to Set Up Multilingual Call Centre for Grievances
Bangalore, India, June 27, 2016 -- Non-Kannadigas will soon be able file grievances with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) more conveniently. The civic agency has decided to hire telecallers conversant in Hindi, English and other south Indian languages like Malayalam, Telgu and Tamil, apart from Kannada. The idea of setting up this centre with six languages is to remove the linguistic gap, which is a hurdle in developmental activities.
The setup will be a part of the newly-established Unified Grievance Management System's control room in the premises of BBMP's head office in Annexure Building-2. A formal approval is likely to be given in a council meeting on Wednesday. With the launch of its newly-established control room, citizens can get in touch with the BBMP through social sites, telephone, SMS, email and app. One of the officers said, "All incoming and outgoing calls will be recorded. The call centre will operate on a 24x7 basis in three daily shifts. The aim of setting up a call centre is to allow grievance redressal and interaction between the BBMP and citizens speaking different languages. A unique number for the call centre will be provided shortly."

The BBMP has one control room in its head office and at all eight zones, besides a manned centralised system at its IPP centre. The 66 likely to be hired at the new call centre will consist 60 customer support representatives, three shift supervisors, one shift manager and two system network engineers. Cyber Futuristic India has been awarded the tender to set up and run the required staff for the control room at a cost of `5.80 crore for the next three months.
Manu Yash Khajuria, business development manager at Cyber Futuristic told Mirror that the company is waiting for new orders to be issued by the BBMP. "Once the orders are issued, we will require a month's time to set up the call centre and train the required staff. The centre may start functioning from August," he said.
