Dearborn, MI, USA, Jan 18, 2021 -- In the few weeks since Beaumont started to administer COVID-19 vaccines, they’ve given more than 32,000 doses, but officials say they want to increase that number to as many as 50,000 a week.

In order to help with that, Beaumont Health is opening a new vaccine clinic at Beaumont Dearborn, 18101 Michigan Avenue, as well as at Beaumont’s Troy hospital.

Both clinics will open Jan. 20.

"We have the expertise and infrastructure to do so much more. Our top priority is to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible and help end this pandemic," Beaumont Chief Operating Officer Carolyn Wilson said. "We are so proud to be able to expand our vaccination efforts."

For the time being, with doses being limited, who gets them is being randomized based on who is eligible for them.

As required by the state and federal 1B criteria, a limited number of appointments are being offered to individuals who are 65 and older.

According to Beaumont, their computer system uses an "equitable, randomized process" to select groups of patients who meet the 1B criteria and also have an active myBeaumontChart account.

As groups of individuals are selected using this process, they will receive an email inviting them to schedule their vaccination.

Due to the limited number of doses available, all vaccines must be scheduled ahead of time to ensure there is a dose available for the patient. Only those with appointments will be allowed inside the clinics, drivers or anyone accompanying the patient will be kept outside unless the patient needs physical assistance.
Beaumont COVID-19 telephone line expanded

Beaumont has also expanded its COVID-19 telephone line, 800-592-4784, for established Beaumont patients.

The call center staff will help individuals who do not have computer access schedule their vaccine appointments online.

Call center hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
