News : Bhilai Cops to Launch Toll-free Helpline for Women
Bhilai, India, Aug 3, 2016 -- Taking initiative for women safety, Bhilai police is launching a toll free women helpline number before Independence Day.
Speaking at the women safety programme held at Sanjay Rungta group on Tuesday, Jamul police station TI Monica Pandey said, "The helpline number will help employed women, who travel alone, sometimes late at night, and girl students. They can dial 1091, a toll free helpline number, to alert Bhilai police 24X7."
Efforts are also on to launch a mobile application. "Besides, police department of Bhilai is planning to organise an awareness camp and self-defence training programme so that women can handle any threat or violence. Police will help you in any emergency and for that you should know the police official first," she said addressing the students.
Girls should not be tolerant towards any misbehaviour, teasing and exploitation. If they raise voice against crime, police will definitely help them, Pandey added.
