News : Birkenhead Call Centre Firm Sees Profits Rise
Jan 10, 2014 -- The Contact Company saw sales and profits leap in 2013 on the back of the roll-out of the 4G mobile phone network.
The improved performance has been attributed to new client wins during the period
Founded in 2006 by entrepreneurs Asif Hamid and Juliet Rhodes, The Contact Company now employs 800 staff, though this figure is expected to fall to around 650 by the end of February as the Christmas and January sales season ends. Ms Rhodes left the business last autumn.
Catherine Miles, head of project management at The Contact Company said the business, housed at Queensgate in Grange Road East, said part of the company’s growth was due to British firms repatriating call centre work as traditional low wage economies are losing their competitive edge as their costs begin to rise.
She said: "With two of the clients we brought back to the UK, we were able to offer very similar budgets compared to their offshore providers. This was work done in Romania and Malaysia.
"Hourly pay is increasing offshore now. They are getting saturated and the resource that is out there is now more experienced and so their employees now expect higher wages."
"Business is looking good for us, despite the economic climate not improveing as quickly as everbody would like.
"Outsourcing is a great way of saving cost and getting flexibility that a lot of people can’t achieve in-house."
