News : BoldChat’s Latest Update Brings Customer-service Chat to Mobile Apps
June 12, 2014 -- Clients of BoldChat can chat online with their customers.
With a new release, BoldChat is allowing clients to add customer-service chat to their mobile apps.
BoldChat is a Wichita-founded product that allows clients to chat online with customers, answering questions or walking them through the sales process. The product was acquired in 2012 by the Woburn, Mass. tech firm LogMeIn.
At first, BoldChat was only designed for clients’ desktop websites, but Ross Haskell, director of products for BoldChat, says that in its past several releases, the BoldChat team has been focused on mobile. Last year, BoldChat improved the chat aesthetics for people who were visiting client websites on mobile devices. Another update allowed clients to send a different chat invitation message to a mobile visitor than to a visitor using a desktop computer.
But Haskell says some existing and prospective clients wanted more flexibility, like the ability to integrate chat into mobile apps. That’s the new feature coming later this summer.
"If you have an app, you may want to engage customers inside the app without forcing them to leave," he says.
BoldChat will release a software development kit that clients’ app developers can integrate into their apps. Clients can control the aesthetics and functions of the chat, he says. BoldChat will be available for both iOS and Android apps.
