News : Book Appointments Online at KMC Hospitals Now
Mangaluru, Jan 7, 2015 -- Did you wait for long at the clinic despite taking an appointment one month ago? Did your doctor rush out on an emergency when you were minutes away from meeting her?
Your worries are history. You can now take appointments online with doctors at KMC Hospitals, Ambedkar Circle, just the way you reserve tickets on trains or for movies on the internet. You’ll get SMS reminders about the appointment and also any change in schedule.
The KMC has gone online to fix appointments for its outpatient department. Appointments can be taken on the phone, which will connect to the call centre’s toll-free number if the mobile number is busy.
The call centre will give the patient an appointment based on her preference and confirm it with an SMS. The toll-free number was launched on Monday. At the outpatient department, a huge screen shows the details of both patient and doctor. The OPD gets about 200 patients every day.
The hospital said if an appointment cannot be given to the timeslot of a patient’s choosing, then an SMS alerts her about the next possible slot. Patients can quote their hospital ID numbers to place requests for appointments. A patient can dial the toll-free number for follow-up appointments.
A hospital employee said: "Usually, when patients come, we register them and send them to the OPD without any timeslot for meeting the doctors. Online bookings eliminate this uncertainty, and patients can manage their time better."
