News : Brad Schneider's Campaign Call Center Closed by Highland Parks
Highland Park, IL, USA, March 10, 2016 -- The City of Highland Park has shut down a political call center opened by Brad Schneider's campaign, who happens to be Mayor Nancy Rotering's opponent in the March 15 Democratic primary for the 10th Congressional District.
Schneider's campaign opened the call center Monday in a downtown storefront at 643 Central Ave. with the intention of using the space through Election Day, according to Magen Ryan, his campaign manager.
On Wednesday, the city hand-delivered a notice that the office use violated a city requirement, Ryan said. The notice said ground-level space in the shopping district can only be used for retail purposes.
The campaign was given until 4 p.m. Friday to stop its use of the space. Ryan said Thursday the campaign has moved out, and that no money had been spent to install phones or phone lines because the callers were using cellphones.
