News : Brunswick Call Center to Hire for 200 Jobs
Portland, ME, USA, March 11, 2016 -- A Brunswick call center announced that it plans to hire 200 people after getting an expanded contract with an insurance company client.
SaviLinx, based at the former Navy base now called Brunswick Landing, announced the new hires during a news conference Friday, for positions that start in May.
The company has about 100 employees in Brunswick and another 200 at a facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In Brunswick, the company’s facility has room for about 500 employees.
The company, led by EnvisioNet founder Heather Blease, said in a news release that the jobs will be for people monitoring quality and inbound phone inquiries.
The company is the second call center recently to announce an expansion at Brunswick Landing, with the Boston-based online retailer Wayfair announcing it would open facilities in Bangor and Brunswick last month.
Regionally, Maine has an outsize share of call center work, as call center employers can generally pay lower wages than in the rest of the region while remaining competitive with other local jobs, according to a Bangor Daily News analysis of federal data.
