News : BT Italia Signs Agreement to Acquire Palermo Call Centre
Dec 24, 2014 -- BT Italia has signed an agreement to acquire Accenture's call centre in the Sicilian capital of Palermo. The call centre was threatened with closure, with the resulting layoff of 262 employees, after BT Italia announced in the summer that it was implementing a major overhaul of its customer service provision.
However, following the intervention of trade unions and the Italian ministry for economic development (MiSE), the operator said it had reached a deal to safeguard the jobs of all the workers at Palermo as part of a long-term plan to invest in technological platforms and processes.
