News : Business Growth Firm Televerde to Create 170 Jobs in Glasgow
Glasgow, Scotland, March 3, 2016 -- Up to 170 new call centre jobs, many of them multilingual, are to be created in Glasgow over the next two years by a US firm specialising in business growth.
Televerde said 130 of the posts at its new European headquarters would require staff fluent in other languages.
These include French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Scandinavian and Eastern European languages.
The investment by Televerde is being supported by a Regional Selective Assistance grant.
Televerde chief executive James Hooker said: "We have chosen Glasgow as our European headquarters in large part because of the strong and motivated talent in the city.
"We are fully dedicated to building out an expansive team throughout the next two years."
Finance Secretary John Swinney said Televerde's decision to choose Glasgow for its European headquarters was a vote of confidence in Scotland.
"In choosing Glasgow as the location for its new European headquarters and contact centre, Televerde has shown why Scotland's dynamic business environment and well-established reputation for excellence and innovation makes it the ideal location for companies seeking to establish global business services centres," he said.
