News : Cablevision Call Center to Close in Shelton
Shelton, CT, USA, Aug 9, 2016 -- Altice, the company that bought Cablevision two months ago, is closing a Shelton call center where hundreds of people work.
Employees were told Tuesday (Aug. 9) that the Research Drive call center will be shut down later this year, along with another location in Stratford. Both served customers of the company’s Optimum broadband Internet service.
Company officials said roughly 600 employees would be "impacted" by the closure. They will receive severance and outplacement support, and will be able to apply for other positions at the company
In a prepared statement, Altice spokeswoman Lisa Anselmo said the company is "aligning our contact center organization to meet the current needs of our customers."
"Altice USA is committed to Connecticut and to serving the local communities with best-in-class products and service," Anselmo said in an email. "As a company driven by technology, investment and innovation, we are introducing some exciting changes to our offerings, including speed increases and new products, which are focused on delivering a superior experience to all of our customers."
"Over the last few years, there have been investments and enhancements to our Optimum products and services, making them more reliable and providing more customer service touch points than ever before," Anselmo’s email went on. "As a result, we have seen a significant improvement in customer call volume and patterns. As we look to strengthen our operations in the nation’s most competitive market, we are aligning our contact center organization to meet the current needs of our customers."
