News : Call Active Told Sacked Workers of Company Collapse with 15 Minutes Notice
Melbourne, Australia, Dec 11, 2015 -- Angry and confused staff demanded their pay after the director of a call centre company that supplied services to Coles, Pizza Hut and Metricon told them they would be sacked.
A Herald Sun investigation has uncovered a transcript of audio of the moment that Call Active director Richard Allan broke the news, less than 15 minutes before the close of business on a Friday.
"Are you serious? Where’s our money? That’s why they put the Christmas party off for so long," staff said.
Mr Allan told staff they were dismissed with immediate effect, leaving them short of three weeks’ pay, as well as 15 months of superannuation.
"The doors are going to close straight away and that means that unfortunately everyone in this room is dismissed immediately," he said.
"I’ve spoken with clients, so far HICAPS, Coles and Honda and they’re going to look at taking the staff across and doing the best they can do."
