News : Call Center Changes Hours
Mobile, AL, Jan 16, 2015 -- Mobile's 311 call center has changed its hours.
The Mayor office says it will save the city money.
The call center averages nearly 11,000 calls a month. In the past the lines were open all day and night. The number is available for citizens to get information, report issues around the city, and to make suggestions.
Once a call comes in, information is put into a system and sent to the appropriate department.
The Mayor's office says on weekends and holidays, the center only received 20 calls weekly on average. The city believes this will save money each year.
Mayor Sandy Stimpson's office also says last year the city met nearly half of callers needs.
The call center is open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
