News : Call Center Company Files WARN Notices
Kansas City and Missouri, USA, Feb 5, 2015 -- New details have emerged in NCO Financial Systems Inc.'s layoffs in the Kansas City region. The company filed identical Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notices in Kansas and Missouri.
The notices report the layoffs of 179 employees in the Kansas City metro area; because all the affected employees work from home on both sides of the state line, the WARN notices were filed in both jurisdictions. In addition, layoffs in St. Joseph will affect 96 people, for a regional total of 275.
The layoffs stem from a client that discontinued a program with Expert Global Solutions Inc., the Plano, Texas, parent company of NCO Financial, said Margie Morse, vice president of corporate communications for EGS. Morse declined to identify the client.
Morse stressed that the company will continue to operate its call center in St. Joseph, which employs more than 500 people, to support other programs and clients.
"We realize it's unfortunate about the loss of jobs, but we want to emphasize that we are continuing to be committed to the St. Joseph community and our operations in that location," she said.
