News : Call-center Company to Lay Off 171, Close Charlotte Facility
Charlotte, NC, USA, June, 2017 -- Business-process outsourcing company TeleTech will lay off 171 employees, mainly customer service representatives, as it shuts down its Charlotte facility.
The Colorado-based company will close the facility August 31, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
The center’s closing comes from a lack of sufficient business to support the Charlotte employees, wrote Emily Pastorius, Teletech vice president and chief counsel. The affected employees were notified on Tuesday, and the company plans to offer them employment at its other locations.
The facility is located at Forest Point Boulevard, near Interstate 77 and Interstate 485. TeleTech is consolidating its workforce into fewer brick and mortar locations, Pastorius wrote.
