News : Call Center Firm Moving to Reno
Jan. 20, 2014 -- Another small company is calling the Truckee Meadows home.
Fusion Contact Centers has moved its company headquarters from Arizona to Reno, citing lower costs in merging its corporate operations with its existing call center in downtown Reno.
"The cost of doing business in Nevada is significantly less than in California where our other call center is located," Fusion CEO Peter Claypatch said Monday in a news release. "We feel there is a lot of growth potential here."
Formerly based in suburban Phoenix, Fusion Contact Centers employs 20 people at its Reno center that opened last year in a 14,000 square feet office inside the Park Center Towers at 300 E. Second St. across from Aces Ballpark.
Fusion operates primarily as billing, technical support and sales call centers for financial services, telecommunications and gaming industry clients.
Fusion has already announced plans to hire up to 150 employees this year at the call center, and on Monday officials said they will look to the University of Nevada, Reno for employee development for its tech-based clients as well as its information technology infrastructure.
"We have partnered with local schools in our other locations to great success, and we look forward to duplicating that in Reno through the local university," Claypatch said, citing Fusion’s call center location just blocks south of the UNR campus.
New businesses and announced expansions at existing operations have put the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada ahead of its goal of 2,100 new jobs for the current fiscal year.
"We are thrilled with the progress we’re making. We have a full-court press on," EDAWN CEO Mike Kazmierski said of his agency’s efforts to bring new business to the region. "It’s like plowing a field. We’ve planted the seeds and now we’re starting to see some of the fruits."
