News : Call Center in Wichita Falls to Close its Doors
Wichita Falls, TX, USA, June 26, 2015 -- WDS Global, a Xerox company, will close its doors later this year, a company spokesperson confirmed Friday afternoon.
Coco Salazar, corporate communications manager for Xerox, said the Wichita Falls call center will close "because it is no longer sustainable."
"We realize this affects individuals, and every effort is being made to ensure that all employees are treated fairly," Salazar said. "Affected employees will have the opportunity to apply to other positions within the company, and we expect to rehire at least 100 of the affected individuals for other opportunities at Xerox."
Salazar said 257 employees will be affected by the closing, and those hired back to Xerox would be in at-home work positions and serve in customer care.

Information obtained by the Times Record News indicates the facility will close in late August, and the company’s lease of the building expires in September. The information also suggested the Wichita falls location had employee retention issues, primarily because of low wages. After failing to live up to performance goals issued in March, it was decided the Wichita Falls location would close.
While hearing WDS Global was closing its Wichita Falls call center was shocking and unfortunate that folks would temporarily lose their job, Florsheim said it presents another opportunity to recruit another company to take up that space. He added the local economy is such that businesses are hiring, as seen by the low unemployment rate.
