News : Call Center Moving into Old Merritt Island Circuit City
Merrett Island, FL, USA, June 1, 2016 -- A Merritt Island Island call center is moving into the vacant Circuit City building on State Road 520 with plans to hire more than 300 people in the near future.
The 3-year-old company is Call Direct Partners, a mostly inbound call center that does a considerable amount of work for DIRECTV and other national clients. Currently operating with about 6,000 square feet at 950 N. Courtenay Parkway, the company has quickly outgrown that location and needs to move.
"I liked the area and it was much cheaper than Orlando," said Amy Travers, the founder and operator of Call Direct Partners. "This location has been good for us."
The expansion also fills a sizable property that was left vacant when the once-popular Circuit City closed all of its stores in 2009. Local businessmen, Ralph Perrone Sr. and Mike Shah, purchased the building in 2011 and for the past few years its tenant was a seasonal Halloween retailer.
Among the reasons Travers liked the former Circuit City building is that was near a transit bus stop, making it convenient for employees who live all across Brevard. And at some point, there will be room for a child care facility. Travers is hoping to partner with a child care provider and offer discounted child care for her employees.
"A lot of our staff have kids and we're open 24/7," Travers said.
Travers is a native of Ireland who commutes to Merritt Island from Orlando where she currently lives. She started the company with 20 people and currently has about 170 employees.
