News : Call Centre Advice in Emergencies
Ipoh, June 18, 2014 -- The medical staff at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital's call centre will soon provide advice to relatives of patients in emergency cases while waiting for the medical team to arrive at their houses or premises.
Perak Health (medical) deputy director Dr Rahimi Goon said that once the centre receives an emergency call, the medical staff would ask for details of the case and provide advice before the ambulance arrived.
Speaking to reporters after opening the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services (EMTS) Week at the hospital, he said the medical staff at the centre would be trained to handle such cases.
Taiping Hospital is the only other hospital in the state which has a call centre.
The EMTS week, which is being held for the first time, is to create awareness and enhance knowledge among the public on first aid medical services.
"The event provides an opportunity for them to know more about the services provided by the hospital and understand the work culture," he said.
