News : Call Centre Gets Judges' Call
Nov 11, 2014 -- Yet another award has come the way of the Department of Housing's Housing Direct call centre after it was named 2014 Auscontact Contact Centre of the Year in the 31 to 80 Full-time Employees' category.
This is Housing Direct's second national award and the biggest to date for the call centre.
Department staff present to receive the awards included Ross Cicirello and Marisa Corby representing the Housing Direct team; Manager Libby Atkins, who was a national finalist for Contact Centre Manager; Tracy Thompson, national finalist for Contact Centre People Champion and Tess McGilvray, national finalist for Contact Centre Professional. Manager of Housing Direct, Libby Atkins said the Auscontact award was the biggest the team had won to date, with competition from both the private and public sphere across all industries.
"Our fellow finalists were in banking, insurance, government and outsourcing so it was quite a mixed group," Ms Atkins said.
"Some of these organisations have great facilities, training and reward and recognition budgets that we can't begin to compete with so it was our investment in our people and culture that was the key to our success."

Ms Atkins said her team was a fantastic group of people to work with. "They are committed to delivering the best possible service to our internal and external customers and have a willingness to embrace change rarely seen," she said.
"I am so proud of everything they have achieved in the past five years and this award is a credit to every member of the team, past or present."
