#contactcenterworld, @capitacareers

Moray, Scotland, Mar 18, 2022 -- A Moray MSP has expressed ‘extreme concerns’ over potential job cuts following news that a call centre lost a contract for Scottish Power.

Richard Lochhead MSP has expressed concerns following news that Kura contact centre in Forres lost their contract to provide office services for Scottish Power.

The contract has now been awarded to outsourcing firm Capita, whose offices are based in Glasgow and the northwest of England.

Mr Lochhead has said he has been in touch with the companies involved as he attempts to ensure that jobs are saved.

He said: "The situation at Kura contact centre in Forres is extremely concerning and I would strongly urge Capita, Scottish Power and Kura to explore every available option open to them to prevent any job losses."

"Staff will be incredibly anxious about their jobs especially given the difficult financial situation and the pressure on household incomes at the moment

"I will continue to work wite the companies involved and public agencies to ensure staff affected are being supported and will put pressure on all parties to try to save jobs in Forres.

"I stand ready to assist any constituent affected and employees should feel free to contact my office."

A ScottishPower spokesperson said: "We want to provide the best possible customer service while keeping costs down for our customers.

"The customer service work packages currently provided by Kura have been awarded to three suppliers after a competitive, fair and transparent tender process – Kura wasn’t successful.

"The new contracts get underway on 1 May 2022 and the affected Kura employees are expected to TUPE transfer to one of the new providers.

"We’ll continue to support our suppliers through this process to ensure a smooth transition."
