News : Call Centre to Hear Farmers on Irrigation Issues
Hyderabad, India, June 27, 2016 -- The Irrigation Department will set up a call centre in Hyderabad for receiving suggestions and complaints from farmers on issues related to irrigation.
In a statement on Saturday, Minister for Irrigation T. Harish Rao said the Chief Engineers would be held responsible for negligence and delay in works or other shortcomings, even at the levels from Assistant Executive Engineer to Superintending Engineer. He asked the engineers lend a patient hearing to the farmers’ woes on issues of irrigation and try to resolve them in a time-bound manner.
He directed the officials to take up an action plan for repairs and de-silting of canals under projects and also to mention the phone numbers of the EE, DEE and AEEs concerned on the display boards in villages. Mr. Rao asked the engineers to take the details of farmers when they call and enquire about their plans.
