News : Call Centre to Verify Insurance Claims of Unorganized Workforce
Vijayawada, India, Aug 21, 2015 -- Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, in a review meeting on labour policies, said a call centre would be set up to verify and monitor the insurance claims of workers in the unorganised sector. Besides, the Labour Department will create a wing exclusively to monitor the scheme.
Under the insurance scheme for drivers, Mr. Naidu said the call centre would collect data related to drivers’ children and greenlight scholarships for them. However, the drivers would have to register for the scheme for their children to be eligible, according to a press statement.
The call centre would be connected to a control room that will facilitate remedial action as and when complaints/grievances are filed.

The Chief Minister directed the Labour Department to come up with an action plan to design welfare programmes such as housing and upgrading of skills for workers in the organised and unorganised sectors.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the low penetration achieved on the insurance scheme in the last four months, Mr. Naidu said the settlement process has to be expedited as was done in the case of the victims of the Dowleswaram accident.
Labour Minister K. Atchan Naidu and Joint Secretary P.S. Pradyumna were among those present.
