News : Call Centre Will Bring 170 New Jobs to Derby
Nov 28, 2013 -- Derby has received a huge pre-Christmas jobs boost from a contact centre operator which has launched a recruitment drive for more than 170 extra staff.
Webhelp UK, which has its contact centre on Pride Park, is looking for more staff to deal with customer sales and service inquiries via telephone, e-mail, webchat and social media, on behalf of its client media provider Sky.
The new staff will be recruited over the next two months as part of a UK-wide drive by Webhelp UK to take on about 1,000 new staff to work in its contact centres across the country. The extra jobs will bring the total workforce at Derby to 1,523.
Webhelp UK chief executive David Turner said: "This latest recruitment drive continues the steady expansion that has been such a feature of our business in recent times. We are acutely aware of how important the Webhelp UK operation is to Derby and delighted at the high level of staff we have recruited here. We are proud that we can bring new jobs, particularly at this time of the year."
Applications are now being welcomed by Webhelp for the new positions – but Mr Turner said he would not rule out more jobs being created in Derby next year.
He said: "We are hoping to recruit even more talented people in the year ahead and add to our growing team throughout the UK."
