News : Calling Center Goes from Potential Layoffs to Hiring
Pittsburgh, PA, USA, Feb 17, 2016 -- A company that feared it would have to lay off about 150 employees at a Pittsburgh call center will instead not only save those jobs, but with a new client will be adding 150 more.
Ibex Global, a Washington, D.C.-based call center company, had notified the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that it would have to lay off 153 employees at its 200 Industry Dr. offices due to an unidentified client’s decision to move calling-center work out of Pittsburgh. The layoffs were to have taken effect March 15.
But since the initial announcement in January, Ibex found a new client for the Pittsburgh office that will save the jobs and also require another 150 positions to be filled. There are already 350 employees at the Ibex Global site that do work for a variety of clients.
"We get to retain who we have now and also we are actively searching" for people to fill the spots, said Ibex Global spokeswoman Rosemary Hanratty. The jobs are customer service representative positions in a call-center environment.
