News : Calls Seeking Medical Help on Rail Helpline Surge

#contactcenterworld

Patna, India, Apr, 2024 - Amid post-Holi rush, the number of calls on the integrated RailMadad helpline 139, seeking medical assistance from Railway Protection Force (RPF), has increased in the last seven days. Of all the divisions in the East Central Railway (ECR) zone of the Indian Railways, Danapur has been receiving the maximum number of calls.

For the last one week, the RailMadad helpline has been receiving at least four to six medical assistance calls every day as compared to usual one or two, according to Danapur RPF’s senior commandant Prakash Kumar Panda. He said a separate cell has been monitoring the complaints and grievances, also related to water scarcity, lack of hygiene inside coaches and safety of women passengers, registered on the RailMadad helpline.

In addition, complaints from women passengers travelling on Gaya-Patna route about illegal entry of men in their earmarked coaches have also increased in the past several days, Panda said, adding a team of RPF women personnel have been deployed at Jehanabad.

The RPF cell is now directly linked to Danapur railway control room so that an SOS message could be sent to it for quick redressal of passengers’ grievances. Also, the RPF personnel are ensuring that passengers travelling in the general unreserved coaches stand in queue to board trains at Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal, while a special team is keeping a close vigil on miscreants involved in luggage lifting, drugging passengers, the commandant said.
