News : Capita Shares Dip as it Buys German Call-centre Business
UK, Feb 3, 2015 -- Capita is to buy German call-centre business Avocis in a deal as part of the UK-listed outsourcer’s expansion strategy. Avocis is majority-owned by private equity.
The cash acquisition is subject to approval by German regulators and is on a debt-free basis.
Avocis is a player in customer contact management in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and works in similar sectors to Capita’s equivalent business, with many long-term clients particularly in telecoms and utilities.
Andy Parker, Capita chief executive, said: "The acquisition of Avocis provides us with immediate scale and further capabilities in the [Germany, Switzerland and Austria] territory.
"We will be able to offer these clients access to Capita’s wider transformation capabilities and services and establish a strong platform for developing relationships with new clients in the region."
Capita will form a new division to manage its businesses in the region which will be led by Vic Gysib, the company’s joint chief operating officer.
