News : CGI names Stanley Sims to the role of Chief Security Officer
Montréal, Quebec, January 11, 2016 -- CGI (TSX: GIB.A) (NYSE: GIB) announced the hiring of Stanley L. Sims as Chief Security Officer. Mr. Sims most recently served as the Director of the Defense Security Service, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agency responsible for securing the defense technological base and overseeing the protection of classified information residing with the DoD’s ecosystem of industry partners.
In his new role, Sims will lead CGI’s security enterprise policies, practices, and programs across the full spectrum of physical and cybersecurity activity.
"Security is part of everything we do at CGI," said Michael E. Roach, President and CEO, CGI. "Stan brings unrivalled insight and proven expertise in building modern security programs that help organizations continually close the gap between necessary technological innovation and risk preparedness."
"Over the past few years, I have worked with CGI executives and experts and have been impressed with their holistic view of security. I am now thrilled to join the CGI team to help shape its enterprise program and consult with clients around the world."
Mr. Sims was appointed the Director of the Defense Security Service by the U.S. Secretary of Defense in December 2010, a position he held until his retirement earlier this month. He also is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and a decorated combat veteran with more than 30 years of distinguished public service in a variety of intelligence, security, and operations roles.
