News : CharMeck 311 Call Center to Scale Back Service Hours
Charlotte, NC, USA, June 24, 2015 -- The CharMeck 311 call center is scaling back its service hours in the wake of recent cuts made to the program's budget.
Starting July 1, CharMeck 311 will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The call center will be closed on weekends and holidays.
Janice Quintana, Director of CharMeck 311, said the cutbacks were something she and her staff have studied over the past year.
"We have noticed that there is a decline in call volume, about 10 to 15 percent," Quintana said. "There are websites that are more interactive, there's social media, there's mobile apps. There are a lot of self-service options," she said of reasons for the decline in calls to 311.
Quintana said the call center's new operating hours would make the service more efficient.
Quintana said she did not anticipate the reduction in call center hours would be a major inconvenience to residents once they adjusted to the new schedule.
Residents can also submit a request through the call center's website around the clock.
