News : City Jobs Boost at Government Pilot
Feb 26, 2014 -- A Liverpool-headquartered mutual joint venture (JV) set up by the Government is embarking on a recruitment drive for initially 40, and possibly 60, more staff.
MYCSP looks after public sector pensions for different clients including the Department for Work and Pensions, Ministry of Defence, HM Revenue and Customs and the Home Office.
It was set up two years ago with the aim of driving down costs and introducing private sector values in a three-way joint venture involving the Government.
Similar to the John Lewis chain store model staff are seen as ‘partners’ and can receive a share of retained profits as a dividend payment, to improve staff engagement.
Prior to the JV model, civil servants’ pensions were administered at nine different sites. Now they are run from four, at Newcastle, Cheadle, Worthing and Liverpool, with Liverpool being the lead location employing almost 160 staff at its City Square offices on Tithebarn Street.
The latest recruitment drive will see MYCSP almost double its Liverpool workforce since it was established.
MYCSP chief executive Nicola Hurst said they have been very impressed by the calibre of recruits in Liverpool, which has a national reputation in pensions management.
She said: "In the past two years our business has grown from strength to strength aided by the fantastic talent of the team we have in Liverpool. We have recruited quite a few graduates."
New roles include call centre jobs and pensions consultants and Ms Hurst said: "Even contact centre people are trained pensions administrators who happen to work on the phones."
