News : Civic Body Helpline Lacks Inter-agency Support
Bhopal, India, June, 2017 -- The emergency call centre of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), soon to deal with monsoon woes is lacking inter-agency support.
Officials from agencies like the public works department (PWD), Capital Project Authority (CPA) and others are nowhere to be seen.

Last year after the outrage over handling the situation following heavy monsoon rains, a coordinated call centre with representatives of all important agencies were interlinked to the call centre.
It led to effective handing of over 1,000 situations last year. BMC officials said that official-level contact between various agencies and the BMC could resolve the situation.
Currently, the BMC emergency helpline and call centre is based out of Moti Mahal extension, opposite Sadar Manzil. BMC has constituted an emergency call centre and there are more than 6 teams to deal with any eventuality.
