News : Closing of AAA Call Center in St. Petersburg Affects Workers
Dec 20, 2013 -- AAA, The Auto Club Group, has solidified plans to close its road service call center in St. Petersburg by early April, idling up to 128 workers.
AAA spokesman Kevin Bakewell said about 10 percent of the affected employees so far have accepted positions elsewhere in the company, including at its Nashville call center which is being expanded as part of a consolidation.
The auto club, with dual headquarters in Tampa and Dearborn, Mich., has between 600 and 700 employees in the bay area, Bakewell said.
