News : Coca-Cola Consolidated Leases Charlotte Building for Call Center
Charlotte, NC, USA, July 7, 2015 -- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated (NASDAQ:COKE), which is in the midst of an expansion, has leased a 71,280-square-foot industrial building in north Charlotte, N.C. for its call-center group and plans to relocate 160 employees there this fall and add 140 more workers at the facility over time.
The Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) products in the U.S. is adding new franchise territories to its footprint. The company, which operates in 12 states, added territories in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana earlier this year. And it has signed a letter of intent for a major expansion that would provide distribution rights in markets such as Baltimore; Richmond, Va.; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; and Washington, D.C.
Coke Consolidated expects to close on the transactions for the new territories in the fall.

"When you expand like that, you have to staff up," company spokesman Lauren Steele says.
Coke Consolidated had run out of space for call-center operations at its corporate headquarters in SouthPark and plans to move 160 employees into the Harris II building at 5020 W. W.T. Harris Blvd. in October, after renovations are complete, Steele says. The company expects to create 140 more jobs at the facility over the next two to three years, he says.
