News : Command and Control Centre Plans Finalised
Ekurhuleni, South Africa, June 7, 2016 -- The plans for a multi-departmental command and control centre have been completed by the City of Ekurhuleni.
The centre will contain a centralised customer care centre for both life threatening and non-life threatening services.
"The completion of the conceptualisation of the Unified Command Centre (UCC) paves the way for the building programme to be initiated," said Mr Themba Gadebe, the spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM).
"The centre, once operational, will result in effective and faster responses to service delivery complaints from various departments," said Mr Gadebe.
"The municipal Call Centre will serve as a backup disaster recovery facility and will expand visibility on all city networks and operations. This will allow staff to have access to all information systems, ensuring co-ordination between departments," said Mr Gadebe.
This will significantly improve response times to power supply interruptions, burst water pipes and sewerage spillages.
"The centre will also receive a feed from the Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) Surveillance in Central Business Districts (CBD) to reduce crime," said Mr Gadebe.
