News : Commonwealth Bank IT Outage Leaves Customers Without Cash
Sydney, Australia, Aug 28, 2015 -- Commonwealth Bank customers across Australia have been unable to access their accounts by EFTPOS, phone banking or online, after the bank experienced a major system collapse.
Customers were affected by outages from about 2.30pm (AEST), but it is not yet known when they are due to be restored.
The bank released a statement on its website at 4.15pm (AEST) advising that some customers may be "experiencing difficulties" with its systems, and advised that its staff access has also been limited.
"If you are unable to log on to NetBank or the CommBank App, please try again later," the update advised customers.
"Our call centre and branch staff also have limited access and do not have full ability to assist with enquiries.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to restore full access as a priority."
Many customers have expressed their anger on social media.
