News : Company to Lay Off 125 Central Florida Workers at End of Year
Lake Mary, FL, USA, Oct 31, 2019 -- That company that previously bought Cincinnati-based Convergys Corp. in 2018 is laying off up to 125 employees in Lake Mary.
Concentrix CVG Corp., whose parent company Synnex Corp. integrated Convergys into its operations late last year, will close one of its client programs on Dec. 31 at its 285 International Parkway Contact Center, according to a Oct. 24 notification letter to the state. The center itself will remain open.
The company said in the letter that all impacted employees will be offered positions on other programs at the Lake Mary facility. Concentrix officials were not available for comment on the layoffs.

Concentrix previously has made workforce reductions at other programs this past year. The closure of two northern Kentucky programs in September for the company resulted in up to 175 layoffs, sister paper Cincinnati Business Courier reported.
Other Central Florida call centers also have experienced layoffs, including SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. The Orlando-based theme park operator (NYSE: SEAS), which owns and operates theme parks such as SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, will lay off 105 people from its Orlando call center by Nov. 15.
Layoffs provide opportunities for other companies to potentially pick up workers.
Customer service representatives are one of the largest employers in the Orlando area by industry, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
