News : Convergys Adding 400 Jobs
Welland, ON, Canada, March 30, 2016 -- Convergys is doubling the workforce at its Welland call centre by adding 400 jobs.
Brooke Beiting, spokesperson for the Cincinnati-based company, said the new jobs are part of the company's expansion into "blended sales and customer service roles" at its Welland branch, that has provided inbound customer support services for the telecommunications industry since it was founded 14 years ago.
Beiting said the Welland location currently employs 340 people.
"This will be right around doubling (the workforce), if not more than doubling it," she said.
Despite the significant increase in staff, Beiting said she doesn't think a physical expansion of the call centre at the Lincoln Centre plaza will be necessary.
"I believe the current infrastructure can hold that many seats," she said. "I have not heard of any physical site expansions."

In a media release, Lisa Serba, site director for the Welland location, said the company is recruiting "highly motivated individuals to handle inbound customer calls."
"Potential employees must have a good understanding of customer service, computer literacy and excellent communication skills," she said, describing the position as a "great stepping stone" at the company.
"More than 79 per cent of Convergys’ managers began their careers as representatives, as we are known for the internal promotion of our employees."
By adding sales to the services provided in Welland, the media release says employees will also now have an opportunity to earn additional commissions for sales they make.
