News : Convergys and Glasswing: Committed to Education in Nicaragua
Managua, Nicaragua, Aug 31, 2016 -- Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG), a global provider in customer management, signed a cooperation agreement with Glasswing International that will benefit students from public schools, helping them improve their English and customer service skills. The initiative, called "English for Tomorrow", includes intensive English training for students from C.E. Gerardo Barrios and the participation of Convergys volunteers. The program wants to enhance the labor potential of these students, thus promoting better quality of life for them and their families.
"We are pleased to partner with Glasswing and join efforts in pro of Nicaragua’s education. Our work together in the communities helps us turn our commitment into reality, knowing that education is the main tool for those countries who long for better quality of life for their people and for future generations," said Eugenia Rojas, Senior Manager for Communications for Convergys Latin America.
As part of this partnership, more than 15 Convergys volunteers have joined the initiative and are actively participating in "English for Tomorrow". They provide their technical expertise during tutoring sessions and become positive role models for students, while helping them reinforce their English and customer service skills.
"We are very enthusiastic about the alliance between Glasswing International and Convergys Nicaragua, which allows us the approach and service that as social responsible enterprise are always looking for. We feel really proud about this project’s reach, in which our collaborators voluntary serve others who need support in English reinforcement, so as customer service technics knowledge. Our main objective is to promote a new social responsible enterprise culture, allowing us to work toward a better country with better opportunities for all Nicaragua’s people, said Federico Florez, Director for Convergys in Nicaragua.
Glasswing and Convergys are also working in El Salvador, benefiting over 100 young people in the Central American region.

We have no doubt they will become leaders and create a multiplier effect in their communities," Carlos Aguilar, director of Glasswing International, added.
Convergys arrived in Nicaragua in 2008. Since then it has grown to more than 500 employees. Through the program CAN (Community Action Network), the company supports philanthropic and social initiatives in favor of education. The company promotes a sincere spirit of participation and volunteerism and continuously invites employees to take the lead in social projects so they can mark the difference and create a better future for everyone.
