News : Convergys Philippines Employees Give Bags of Hope to Public School Kids
Manila, Philippines, Dec, 2017 -- Employees of business process outsourcing (BPO) company Convergys came together for the third year of "Give A Bag Of Hope" (GABOH), contributing P18 million worth of bags, books and school supplies for the benefit of public school students.
The bags are also to be given to 35,000 elementary pupils in Convergys' partner public schools and communities nationwide.
The ongoing distribution will finish at the start of the new year, generating approximately 10,000 employee volunteer hours.

GABOH is Convergys’ employee-driven CSR campaign that aims to help alleviate a major cause of school drop-outs: the lack of school supplies. Through this ongoing effort, more children are able to continue their studies.
For the last three years, the company’s employees in 34 centers donated portions of their salaries to fund the large-scale production and purchase of the abovementioned items.
This 2017, Convergys also partnered with social enterprises Bag943 and Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, which provide livelihood to disadvantaged individuals. These organizations produced and packed the bags of hope.
"Since we started Give A Bag Of Hope in 2015, our goal has always been to help children have a fighting chance at their education, thereby giving them hope to pursue a brighter future. As the program continued to expand, such as the inclusion of books and storytelling to promote literacy, and now sourcing the bags and supplies from organizations that provide employment to the marginalized, we are able to spread the hope to more members of society," said Ivic Mueco, Convergys President for Asia-Pacific.
