News : Coral Hertz Video Call Center Put on Hold
Jan 31, 2014 -- A Hertz video call center that could have brought 250 jobs to the city has been put on hold.
"We’re disappointed they’re not building a new call center but it wasn’t as if they chose another city over Cape Coral," said spokeswoman Connie Barron. "We remain optimistic should Hertz ever decide to build (a call center) we would be able to put together an attractive package for them."
They were vying for the opportunity against two other cities. The location would have been at a building on corner of Pine Island Road and Hancock Bridge Parkway. Dana Brunett, director of economic development for the city, was unable to be reached Friday.
Betsy Clayton, spokeswoman for the county, was told to refer inquiries to a spokesman at Hertz. He was unable to be reached for comment.
Barron said one benefit of the opportunity was Lee and Cape Coral came together with an incentive package for this project.
