News : Cornwall Atelka to Hire 200
Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Aug 21, 2015 -- The Atelka inbound contact centre on Tollgate Road East has a new contract client to serve, as well as increased need from a current client, that will require English-speaking customer service agents.
"This expansion is excellent news for both Atelka and Cornwall," said Tom Loberto, CEO, in a media release after a formal announcement at its Tollgate Road facility on Friday.
For those interested, a job fair will be held at the Benson Centre. Atelka invites especially those residents with customer service experience and good communications skills to visit. People can also apply online or view the job postings on the Work in Cornwall job board.
"We are choosing to continue to expand and invest in Ontario and we are proud to be a Canadian-based business that offers skilled employment opportunities for Canadians," Loberto said.
"We are delivering on our promise to provide meaningful jobs to the Cornwall community and to contribute to local business development," Loberto said, citing that when Atelka opened in 2013, they said they would make efforts to increase its workforce from the original 155.
Loberto and president Jeanine Giorgi credited the work performance of the Cornwall employees for helping Atelka wrest away a new contract from a competitive call centre in Canada.
"You don't get a contract like this without earning it," said local MP Guy Lauzon who was on hand at Friday's press conference.
The expansion will more than double the Cornwall Atelka operation to about 400 employees. All the new positions are full-time.
Atelka is also currently renovating its building to increase the number of contact "classrooms" with the use of local contractors.
With the additional workers, Loberto said it's possible the facility may enter a 24-7 phase.
