News : CSC Enjoins Public to Raise Only Legitimate Complaints in Hotline
Bontoc, Mountain Province, Philippines, Sept.10, 2016 -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced that it has officially opened its hotline 8888 where complaints against government can be lodged but enjoins the public to raise only legitimate complaints.
Vanessa Bacwaden of the CSC Field Office here said hotline 8888 which was activated last month is in compliance to President Duterte’s directive of establishing a 24-hour national citizen’s complaint hotline where the public can report corruption and inefficiency in the government.
Since it launching in August 1 to August 26, Bacwaden said the hotline already received 4,848 calls mostly related to violations on the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) of 2007.

She advised the public to raise legitimate complaints only adding that complaints should be brief and direct to the point by providing vital details such as name, name of agency being complained of and the details of the complaint. The concerned agency is expected to update the clients on its response or action on the complaints within five working days.
Bacwaden said previously, the CSC had the Contact Center ng Bayan or the "Sumbungan ng Bayan" where the public can send not only complaints against government workers violating the ARTA but also appreciation and commendation to government workers for their dedication and commitment to public service and government offices for giving efficient and effective services and products.
Meanwhile, Bacwaden enjoined all government offices in the province to participate in the month-long observance of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) this September.
Stressing that the PCSA celebration is for the whole government bureaucracy, she encouraged all agencies to come-up with their own agency-based activities in support of the anniversary theme: "Sigaw ng Lingkod Bayani: Malasakit para sa Taumbayan, Kapwa Kawani at Kalikasan."
Aside from the display of the anniversary banner or streamer in all government offices for the whole month of September, offices may also organize other activities such as fun run, clean up drives, bloodletting or employees get together activities to instill compassion with action for the health, the environment, deserving public servants and the Filipino public who are clients of government offices.
