News : Cwmbran Firm Shows Support for Armed Forces
Cwmbran, Wales, May 22, 2015 -- We Fight Any Claim, the Cwmbran-based call centre, has continued to show its support for armed forces personnel, both present and past, by donating £2,000 to the SSAFA Gwent Branch at Raglan Barracks, in Newport.
The SSAFA is the longest serving national tri-service military charity which, for 130 years, has provided lifelong support to those who are serving or have ever served in our armed forces.
Its support covers both regulars and reserves in the British Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service.
They are all entitled to lifelong support from SSAFA, no matter how long they have served.
Every year SSAFA supports 50,000 people - that's 136 every day. It provides a number of support services including welfare advice and support, health and social care services, support groups, mentoring services, the Military Wives choir, housing, and services for children.
At Raglan Barracks, We Fight Any Claim’s managing director Simon Chorlton along with the owner of the company, Joy Chorlton, attended a presentation from the 104th Regiment Royal Artillery about increasing the number of reservists, and how local businesses can work with the armed forces in helping to release staff to act as reservists.
They presented a cheque for £2,000 to Chris Kirk, marketing, communications and fundraising co-ordinator of the Gwent Branch of SSAFA.
Simon Chorlton said: "We wanted to reinforce our commitment to this by making a donation to the local branch of the SSAFA and we were delighted to visit Raglan Barracks to present Chris and his team £2,000 to allow them to carry out the excellent and invaluable work they do with local service personnel.
"What we also gained from the visit was an understanding of the role of reservists, especially here with the 104th Regiment Royal Artillery, and we will work closely with them in the coming weeks to see if we as a business can help in the provision of reservists for their regiment. This is an exciting development for us, and we hope we can maintain a long term relationship with the team at Raglan Barracks."
