News : Delhi Police 100 Helpline Number to Go Manual for 3 Days
New Delhi, April 2, 2014 -- Getting through the Delhi Police emergency response number ‘100’, one of the most-dialled help lines in the capital, will be tough for Delhiites over the coming two days.
The police said complainants dialling the number would face a slight delay in response till Saturday owing to technical issues.
"Due to technical upgradation at the Central Police Control Room (PCR), the response time from the number may face a three-to-four minute delay as information about the complaint would be relayed manually," said a police official.
The police said ‘100’ would switch to manual mode from ten pm on Thursday to ten pm on Saturday.
An official from the communication unit said that a call to ‘100’ usually meant the recording of information given by a caller by a computer before forwarding the call to a sister department which is supposed to take action on it within a minute.
"But, for two days, the information will be noted down on a paper and it will take three to four minutes to forward the matter to the next department," the officer added.
