News : DGP Reviews Working of Police Call Centres
Bhubaneswar, India, Sept, 2019 -- Ahead of launch of the "Mo Sarkar" programme in the State, Director General of Police (DGP) Bijay Kumar Sharma reviewed the functioning of the State-level call centres at the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
Sharma took feedback from some visitors to police stations. He said a system of rewards and punishment would be in place for encouraging and motivating police personnel in achieving the aims and objectives of the "Mo Sarkar" programme to be launched in the State on the coming Gandhi Jayanti day on October 2.
"Police personnel who will perform well in terms of manners, etiquettes, behaviour and response to citizens will be suitably rewarded," said Sharma. He said there would also be a punishment system for negligence in duty.

Sharma claimed that the Odisha police have taken a number of steps for effective implementation of the "Mo Sarkar" programme.
A well-organised system has been developed for recording feedback from citizens who come to police stations for various works.
The call centre at the SCRB is working as the nodal agency for implementing the "Mo Sarkar" initiative, he said.
Similarly, call centres have also been established in all the districts, Police Ranges and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, Bhubaneswar which function under the direct supervision of district Superintendents of Police, Range DIGs/Range IGs and Commissioner of Police, respectively.
Call centres’ dashboards generate a randomised list of cases, including FIRs, petitions and services, in which feedback can be taken using the mobile number of a complainant or a petitioner.
